Board Services
International corporate governance has changed radically over the past ten years. At Harvey Nash, we understand that keeping up to date with corporate governance issues is essential and we follow developments closely in order to be able to advise and assist our clients.
Harvey Nash works with Chairmen, Non Executive Directors, Chief Executives and other Board Directors providing a variety of services including board evaluations, board recruitment, incentive schemes for boards and executive management audits. The boardroom door is no longer closed: decisions are scrutinised and monitored carefully by both media and company owners, and companies now need to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of their boards.
Board Recruitment
Boards of directors are now expected to meet even higher standards of professionalism and expertise. Harvey Nash helps clients raise the bar, finding talent for both Executive Leadership and Non Executive Chairman roles to drive organisations in these changing times.
Ownership structures in today's business world are fragmented and ever-changing. The stock market, institutional investors and venture capital companies have high expectations of board members. Increasingly, the focus has also been directed towards what external and independent board members can bring to the table. The average term of office for board members is steadily declining and clearer demands are being made for long-term succession planning. We understand what a complex role today's board members have. We believe this knowledge is essential in order to be able to contribute in the search for new hires.
Equally, Public sector bodies demand expertise from both the Public and Commercial world.
Harvey Nash has both local and international expertise to search for outstanding individuals. We work in close communication with our clients to ensure the most experienced and suitable candidates are sourced. Harvey Nash has consciously built up a carefully structured network of contacts within "corporate governance" across our global offices.
It is recognised that women, members of black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people are underrepresented on Boards and in senior positions. Harvey Nash has developed Tbay, a dedicated registration system for these specific minority groups to join the main Harvey Nash database. The aim is to build a wider pool of these candidates in order to provide our clients with the best solutions to today’s issues.
Board Evaluation
The strategic and performance related demands on the board are increasing, and the value of an evaluation may be crucial in ensuring effectiveness and success. Harvey Nash provides customised board evaluations to help clients realise their strengths and weaknesses and optimise company performance.
A quantitative and qualitative investigation provides an insight into how the board works and where there are areas for improvement. The evaluation shows, among other things, how the chairman and CEO perform their roles and responsibilities within the board of directors, and what contribution each individual board member makes. The analysis of both the composition and expertise within the board is also of central importance.
Each evaluation assignment is individually tailored to match our client’s own needs with the help of our experienced consultants.
We also perform management and executive audits to specifically evaluate the CEO and the rest of the management team.
