Our processes are delivered via a Quality Management System (QMS) which delivers the processes and methods that underpin our software development, configuration and project management activities. Embedded in these processes are tools which support the tracking, monitoring and management of processes with appropriate and instantaneous information.

Our methods have achieved some of the highest levels of accreditation including CMMi Level 5 placing us amongst an elite group of the world’s companies. We constantly strive for practical improvements through a programme of measurement, analysis and refinement.

Quality Assurance

The QMS provides the processes that help to assure quality. However, we are organised to ensure those processes are adhered to and communication across the teams is clear and effective. This is achieved in a number of ways and the two teams which are independent of the project team are Process Quality Assurance and Software Engineering Quality Assurance.

All stages of the software life cycle are verified and validated by the Software Engineering Quality Assurance team through Quality Gates.

Tools

We use a number of off the shelf and bespoke tools to help monitor, control, improve and report on the quality of our projects. The key tools are; the Issue Tracking System (ITS) and the Defect Management Systems (DMS) so that when issues are recognised as bugs, they can be logged in the DMS and cross-referenced. The DMS records a bug’s progress through its own fix-test lifecycle, and the ITS is then used to report issue resolution to all interested parties. As with the ITS, this system was developed by Harvey Nash’s Software Development Centre
